Coconut oil is often used for grooming the fur and body of dogs and cats. The fat is becoming increasingly popular, especially when the fur and skin are very dry. Coconut oil is also often used against ticks.
Basically, the care product is obtained from the so-called copra. This is the dried nutrient tissue of the coconut. In our BARF shop, we make sure that the coconut oil for dogs and cats is obtained from cold pressing, instead of being refined, bleached or deodorized.
You can use one teaspoon of coconut oil per ten kilograms, which you can either apply directly to the fur and rub in as part of a treatment, or you can add the same amount to the food as a nutritional supplement. Coconut oil for dogs and cats is not a cure-all when it comes to parasite defense, but it can have a positive effect on defense. You can therefore use coconut oil against ticks, fleas and other small animals, although we definitely recommend a visit to a veterinarian.
