Amaranth is a food that was once popular among the Incas, Mayas and Aztecs. The small seeds have now found their way to us and are becoming increasingly popular. Amaranth contains numerous nutrients, fiber and vitamins. It also has an extremely high protein content, while it contains very few carbohydrates.
If you are wondering about the grains we recommend for your dog, we can reassure you: Amaranth is a pseudo-grain. The plant is a member of the goosefoot family, and its seeds only look like grains. The same applies to quinoa, for example, which belongs to the goosefoot family.
In our BARF shop, we use amaranth for dogs primarily as food for exclusion diets . If your four-legged friend has an allergy, use the starch, proteins and high fat content of amaranth so that your dog receives a pleasant supplement to meat feeding. Simply pour hot water over our organic amaranth flakes and let it swell for around 15 minutes. Two tablespoons are enough as a supplement for a body weight of ten kilograms.
