What the Germans serve on Christmas Eve 

In Germany, potato salad with frankfurters is traditionally served. This traditional meal is the favourite among Christmas menus . Poultry, roast beef, roast pork or fish are often served. Fondue and raclette are also very popular and are therefore often served at Christmas. 

Especially at Christmas, the question arises whether my dog ​​can have something from the Christmas menu. Only as an exception, because you will be looked at with big puppy eyes. But am I doing my dog ​​any good by doing this? 

Can my dog ​​eat something from the Christmas menu? 

Starting with the favorite food, potato salad: Potato salad is usually made with mayonnaise and is therefore not suitable as a dog meal. Mayonnaise is very fatty and therefore harmful, especially for overweight dogs. Furthermore, potato salad often contains onions or shallots, which is why it is not suitable for dogs.

Raclette is different. Depending on which vegetables are served, the dog can have a bite to eat. Some dogs enjoy boiled broccoli or potatoes. 

However, if a main course is served with meat, you should be extremely careful. Roasts are often served with a sauce that may contain onions, garlic or mushrooms.
