Dogs at Christmas dinner: this is what goes in the bowl - haustierkost.de

To ensure that your dog also enjoys a delicious Christmas meal, you can prepare a special BARF speciality for him. High-quality muscle meat, offal or a bone are good options here. Read about which BARF food is suitable for the holidays and how to best prepare the delicacies for your dog.

Festive BARF menu for dogs: what’s for Christmas?

What should be included in the Christmas BARF menu for dogs? Your dog certainly has his favorite food - foods that he particularly likes to eat. Christmas is a good opportunity to serve your dog this favorite food. To ensure that your dog can fully enjoy the Christmas meal, you should avoid giving him snacks from the table on this occasion too. Richly seasoned foods, such as the Christmas goose, are not suitable for the dog's digestion. In addition, it can be detrimental to training to give the dog small pieces of food directly from the table. It is better to serve the food in the bowl as usual at Christmas.

Caution is also advised when giving bones: Bones and cartilage can be a delicious and captivating part of Christmas dinner for dogs , but the dog should be well-trained in eating bones. An extra-large Christmas bone can therefore potentially even pose a danger if the dog chokes on it or large bone fragments end up in the digestive tract. The general rule is that bones should only be given raw - under no circumstances should the dog be given cooked bones, as these are very brittle and cannot be digested.

Christmas dog biscuits: best without sugar

Sweet Christmas cookies and biscuits are one of the greatest joys of Christmas for many people. However, these sweet temptations have no place in a Christmas BARF menu for dogs – even if they don’t contain chocolate. Sugar stimulates the appetite and, if given regularly, can increase the risk of diabetes in dogs if they are overweight. The sugar substitute xylitol is even toxic to dogs. Homemade dog biscuits are a better option. If stored in a cool place, these will last over the holidays without any problems and are species-appropriate snacks. For a bit of sensory and taste variety, a few of the dog biscuits can also be served to the dog as part of the Christmas dinner – either whole or roughly crumbled. Classics can also be used when choosing additions to a Christmas BARF menu for dogs: fruit and vegetables complement any BARF meal wonderfully.

Our goose talers are also a very special Christmas snack - they consist of goose necks, goose hearts, carcasses and stomachs as well as carrots, apples, pears and other vegetable parts. Supplement a BARF meal with the goose talers or feed them as a handy and tasty snack between meals - your dog will definitely be happy with them.
