Freeze-dried meat for cats and dogs is in many ways better than raw meat or dry and wet food. With its unique advantages, freeze-dried meat is a good supplement or temporary alternative to a classic BARF diet. 1. Well tolerated by cats and dogs
Freeze-dried meat is generally well tolerated by cats and dogs because its composition is no different from conventional meat and it contains no additives. The only thing that is removed from the meat during freeze-drying is the water, which gives it its characteristic appearance. It is therefore equally suitable as a supplement to BARF feeding and as a single feed. The following calculation can be used as a rule of thumb for calculating the amount of food:
1 gram of freeze-dried meat = about 4 grams of fresh meat
If you want, you can also rehydrate the odorless meat before feeding it: All you have to do is place the pieces of meat in some lukewarm water for about 10 minutes.
Since the water is removed from the meat during preparation, the water requirement for dogs and cats is significantly higher with this feeding method than with normal BARF. If meat is fed, a bowl of fresh water should always be available.
2.Durable and easy to store
Unlike conventional BARF meat , freeze-dried meat does not require a special cold chain or storage in the refrigerator. This makes it the perfect companion for a day at the beach, a trip to the dog playground or even a longer vacation without the possibility of refrigeration for classic BARF. Since freeze-dried meat is freshly processed and carefully packaged, it has a long shelf life even without refrigeration - up to two years.
Our tip: Before you go on holiday, make sure you test how your dog or cat reacts to freeze-dried meat and get your pet used to larger portions before you go on holiday. This way you will be well prepared for feeding your dog or cat on holiday.
3. Contains all nutrients and vitamins
In order for freeze-dried meat to be used as a single feed, it is of course very important that nutrients and vitamins are retained as much as possible after drying. The special process for freeze-drying fresh meat ensures exactly this and at the same time excludes any risk of salmonella or dangerous bacteria, as these cannot survive without moisture.
