A breeder specializes in mating animals to promote certain characteristics or traits. For this, special knowledge of genetics, health and the respective purpose of dog breeding is important. The work of the breeder becomes very clear when you hear keywords such as "mixed breed" or "purebred". In so-called outcrossing, the dog breeder deliberately mates dogs that are not related to each other. There are usually three reasons for this:
- The genetic diversity within a breed is increased.
- Genetic abnormalities or problems within a breed are reduced.
- Two different breeds are mixed to create a new breed.
In contrast line breeding, the breeder mates dogs that are related to each other. Of course, the mating of parents and offspring as well as full siblings is avoided in order to avoid health risks. The focus of line breeding is on promoting certain characteristics that should be more pronounced in the offspring.
If you breed dogs yourself, you can rely on our high-quality BARF meat for food. BARF is very popular with breeders because it involves selected ingredients that are prepared biologically in a species-appropriate manner and given to the four-legged friend to eat. Dog breeders in particular have a great responsibility for feeding the right food in order to optimally promote the development of the puppies and at the same time keep an eye on the health of the mother and father. There is a good reason why we have assigned BARF puppy food a separate category.
