With dog ice cream, you can treat your loyal friend to a little cooling down on hot days. The principle of dog ice cream follows the same rules as ice cream: various ingredients are frozen and made available for licking. So why don't we just give our dogs ice cream? Ice cream contains many ingredients that our four-legged friends should avoid. The high sugar content in particular is harmful to dogs. In addition, many dogs are lactose intolerant and would react accordingly to the cooling down.

So that your dogs can still eat ice cream, several types of dog ice cream have been tried and tested over the years. These types are usually a bit heartier than we humans are used to and pamper our furry friends with familiar flavors. In the BARF online shop at Haustierkost, for example, we offer dog ice cream based on beef tripe juice, beef blood, lungs and gelatine. Such ice cream for dogs offers a high level of safety because it combines some of the ingredients of BARF dog food .

You can make other creative solutions for dog ice cream at home. All you need is a small container, such as a washed-out yogurt pot, which you fill with the ingredients. If your dog can tolerate lactose, you can mix natural yogurt and watermelon and freeze it, for example. You can make it more hearty if you combine cottage cheese, liver sausage and a dash of oil to make a tasty dog ice cream.

Feed the ice cream to dogs under supervision, as your four-legged friends should eat as small pieces as possible. This way, your dogs can enjoy their own ice cream while you treat yourself to delicious scoops of vanilla and chocolate.
