feed utilization

The feed conversion of dogs, cats and other pets and breeding animals refers to the so-called feed value. This describes what percentage of the food is absorbed by the organism - and how much is excreted. Feed conversion is particularly important in intensive livestock farming, where the aim is to produce the most efficient feed possible for a mixture of growth and cost minimization.

The food conversion rate for dogs with standard dry or wet dog food is around 85 to 90 percent. With BARF, you can increase the food conversion rate to over 90 percent, as you can choose exactly the food that your four-legged friend needs. The same applies to cats in this context. While dry food usually adheres to a certain standard, with BARF you can take into account the breed, age, activity level and many other characteristics of your pet in order to increase the dog's food conversion rate.

To get an idea of how to divide the food, you can use the BARF calculator from Haustierkost . Here you can calculate the food based on the parameters of food quantity as a percentage of body weight, body weight of the dog, meat content and amount of food, thus ensuring that your dog uses up more of the food.
