Frankenprey

Reading time < 1 minute

Frankenprey is a variation of BARF that is particularly popular with cat owners. While with Prey, the entire prey animal or all parts of an animal are fed, with Frankenprey the "prey animal" is made up of several animals. So instead of a single mouse, your cat gets horse muscle meat, turkey necks, lamb liver and chicken hearts. Since several animals are put together to create a new prey animal, the term Frankenprey is derived from Frankenstein, the horror novel by Mary Shelley.

With Frankenprey, the cat is logically the focus. The aim is to create the optimal mixture using different foods. The 80/10/5/5 rule has been established for this: 80 percent muscle meat, 10 percent meaty bones, five percent liver and five percent other organs. Other food supplements for cats are almost completely absent from Frankenprey. Only taurine and salmon oil are regularly added. Otherwise, Frankenprey relies on a balance of meat, offal and bones for cats. Accordingly, feeding plans - preferably in consultation with a veterinary practice - are an important support.
