Salmon is a very good source of protein and various valuable fatty acids for dogs, such as omega-3 and omega-6. Salmon is also very suitable for dogs that tend to have food intolerances, for example, reactions to beef or poultry .
For this delicious BARF menu, salmon, sweet potatoes and some spinach end up in the bowl, along with an egg and millet flakes. This covers both the animal and plant components, as well as the different smells and tastes and the different textures of the food ingredients. The portion size for the menu corresponds to a meal for a dog weighing 20 kilograms, who receives around three percent of his body weight in food every day. This meal contains just over 1.5 percent of the body weight. You can of course adjust the corresponding amounts individually for your dog and compare them with our BARF calculator .
As always, it is best to take the BARF salmon out of the freezer a few hours before use and let the fish thaw to room temperature.
BARF salmon menu: what you need
- 250 g salmon
- 50 g pureed sweet potato from haustierkost.de
- 40 g leaf spinach
- 2 tsp haustierkost.de ORGANIC millet flakes
- 1 egg
How it works
- Wash the egg well and separate it into its components: the yolk and shell go into the blender, the egg white can be fried briefly in a pan or boiled in a water bath until it is solid. The egg yolk and shell are thoroughly pureed so that no large pieces of peel remain.
- Weigh the millet flakes and pour twice their weight in warm water over them. After about 10 to 15 minutes, the flakes should have swollen.
- Blanch the spinach briefly in a saucepan and then chop the mixture a little in a blender.
- Put the salmon in the bowl together with the pureed sweet potato, the egg components and the spinach and mix in the millet flakes so that everything is well mixed. Make sure that all components are well cooled.
We wish your animal friend a good appetite!
