Sustainability at haustierkost.de®

As a company, we are not only committed to feeding dogs and cats in a species-appropriate manner, but we also do our utmost to leave a green footprint and relieve the burden on our environment as much as possible.

CO2 neutral shipping

haustierkost.de® relies on CO2/climate-neutral shipping with DHL Go Green and DPD DrivingChangeTM. In this way, we ensure that the emissions generated by transport and logistics are offset and we thus make a significant contribution to climate protection.

Recycling and waste separation

The paper-based packaging is biodegradable and easier to recycle than plastic, for example. This helps reduce waste, because 100% of the paper waste is recyclable. After using the paperfloc insulation, it is disposed of in the paper waste and cool packs in the residual waste.

In addition, we return all paper, cardboard and plastic waste that we generate to the recycling cycle through a sophisticated recycling system and also rely on strict waste reduction and waste separation within our administration.

Power supply through green electricity

Due to the nature of the majority of our goods, we at haustierkost.de® naturally require appropriate cooling capacity for storing our frozen products. Thanks to BusinessStrom Green from Stadtwerke Düsseldorf, the electricity provided for this is generated 100% from renewable energy.

In addition, all of our storage areas are equipped with LED lights and motion detectors in our offices ensure that lights only come on where employees are currently present.

Origin of our products

The meat for our products originally comes from food production, and we mainly use meat trimmings that accrue during cutting. Many of our items are also so-called slaughter by-products, which are rarely used in the German or European food industry because we humans generally do not consider them to be fit for consumption. By reusing these products, we ensure that the animals that have already been slaughtered are fully utilized.

The meat used in our products is subject to veterinary supervision, so it goes without saying that no sick animals are used.

The majority of our products are manufactured in EU-approved feed plants in North Rhine-Westphalia, Lower Saxony, Rhineland-Palatinate and Schleswig-Holstein.

All suppliers and we ourselves are subject to constant monitoring by the relevant supervisory authorities. The products that are labelled as organic come from organic farms, the rest are from conventional farming (pasture and stable) and slaughter.
