A complete BARF menu should contain the most important components of the diet, both in terms of the animal and the plant components. Fortunately, BARF offers a wide range of products that you can use for this purpose. This BARF recipe with beef is therefore just one way to prepare a tasty menu for your dog: For example, if your dog has intolerances, you can replace the animal component with horse meat and offal or lamb, or use our prepared fruit and vegetable mixtures instead of fresh fruit and vegetables - the choice is entirely up to you.
This is what you need
per daily ration:
- 150 g beef muscle meat
- 100 g tripe/omasum
- 30 g of offal, such as heart, liver or kidneys
- 50 g carrots
- 20 g parsnips
- 20 g beetroot
- 30 g apples
(These values are optimal for a healthy dog weighing 20 kilograms and eating two percent of its body weight each day. You can calculate your dog's daily ration using our BARF calculator . Bones and cartilage or supplementary feed, such as horse bone meal or the haustierkost.de BARF Mineral Vitamin Mix, can also be used as a calcium source.)
How the BARF complete menu works
- Prepare the muscle meat the way your dog likes it best – for example, chopped or minced.
- Add the tripe and omasum as well as the offal.
- Cut carrots, parsnips, beetroot and apples into manageable pieces and puree them to form a puree.
- Mix the porridge together with the other ingredients.
Ideally, you should divide the daily ration into two smaller meals, as the dog's digestion is usually only occupied for a few hours with one meal. You can also prepare the fruit and vegetable puree in large quantities and freeze the amount you don't need at first. You should use a ratio of three parts vegetables to one part fruit.
