Is BARF complicated – and what solutions are there? - haustierkost.de

The question "Is BARF complicated?" is probably one of the biggest hurdles for anyone who is dealing with BARF for the first time. As is often the case, there is no clear answer, but in most cases it can be said that BARF is often made more complicated than it actually is. Below we would like to explain the factors that can create this impression and how you can simplify these steps. Or, to put it another way: BARF is as complicated as you want to make it.

Is BARF complicated? Comparison with dry and ready-made food

If you want to answer the question of whether BARF is complicated, you should first look at the other feeding methods - both in terms of the effort involved and the effects on your pet. As far as the effort is concerned, one thing can be said right from the start: It is certainly very easy to open a can of ready-made food twice a day or to give your dog a scoop from the large dry food bag into its bowl. In most cases, BARF cannot keep up with that in terms of convenience. Nevertheless, there is now a practical, pre-portioned alternative, especially in the form of ready- made BARF , which is suitable, among other things, when there is little time for feeding in the daily routine. In addition, the overall greater effort involved in BARF is well worth it when you consider the advantages of the BARF diet.

Biologically appropriate raw feeding is the method of feeding that comes closest to the natural diet of a dog or cat. This means, among other things, that your pet's physiology is most attuned to the components it contains: These are mainly raw meat and other animal components and, in dogs, a certain amount of fruit and vegetables, which are beneficial for digestion, among other things. In general, a higher proportion of the food can be utilized with BARF compared to dry and wet food. This has two advantages: firstly, the amount of food needed to obtain the necessary nutrients is reduced, and secondly, the amount of feces produced at the end of this process is reduced. Another thing to note is that BARF is allergy-friendly: for animals with food intolerances, the food contents can be precisely defined. Dog food for allergy sufferers and cat food for allergy sufferers, for example, usually consists of hypoallergenic varieties, such as horse meat, and exotic animals, such as llama or ostrich.

Making BARFing easy

In everyday life, there are numerous ways to make BARF easy and uncomplicated. For example, use our BARF calculator to calculate the amount of food your dog needs or use our ready-made BARF if you are still unsure about the individual composition. Purchasing BARF meat is also extremely easy: use our BARF online shop to have high-quality products delivered frozen. We use sustainable cooling packaging to ensure the cold chain. There is also a minimum order quantity so that the shipping box can be sufficiently filled. You can see this via a fill level indicator in the shopping cart.

Over time, you will notice that BARFing becomes a routine. You will become faster or develop an eye for the required amounts. In any case, it is not necessary to weigh every meal to the exact gram. The calculated amounts should match up on a weekly average. It is therefore absolutely possible to vary the menu as long as no part of the diet is neglected in the long term. The already mentioned ready-made BARF is also a BARF alternative that you can use if you have little time for feeding. So you see: BARFing does not have to be complicated!
