On the beach with a dog: what the dog needs - haustierkost.de

Visiting the beach with your dog is a great activity on the weekend or on holiday, and it brings a lot of variety and fun to your daily routine. To ensure that both humans and animals are comfortable during the trip, there are a few things you should pack in your beach luggage. We have put together the most important tips and goodies for your beach trip with your dog.

Visiting the beach with a dog: food and water

As with so many other things, a day at the beach with your dog is all about preparation. This primarily means food for your four-legged friend, as a stay at the beach is usually associated with lots of fun and exercise for the dog. To ensure that reserves can be quickly replenished, you should definitely have water in your hand luggage. Salt water has a drying effect, which is why it is very important to have enough water to drink. So take a dog bowl with you that is easy to clean after the trip.

Food should be part of the beach ration, especially if you are planning a longer stay at the beach with your dog. For example, use treats , training food or dried meat from our BARF shop - depending on what your dog likes best and is used to. You can also let the dried meat soak in water. After eating, your dog should rest for a while before you can play with him again. This helps digestion and prevents stomach twists.

Sun protection for dogs

Sun protection for dogs is an important part of the equipment, especially on a sunny day. A whole day in the blazing sun is even potentially dangerous in very hot weather, as it can cause heat stroke. Some breeds are more sensitive to sun and heat than others - so it's best to find out how your dog tolerates the conditions. A good sun protection for dogs is, for example, a place under a parasol or a beach tent that can be quickly set up and taken down. A bowl of water can also be provided there so that the precious liquid doesn't heat up too much.

On the beach with a dog: additional accessories

If you're planning a day at the beach with your dog, you should also pack dog poop bags to dispose of any droppings. If the path to and from the beach leads through tall grass, parasite protection can also help to protect against ticks and other vermin. Of course, toys shouldn't be missing either: throwing toys in particular are a lot of fun on the beach. To protect sensitive dog paws from hot sand or sharp stones and shell remains when running and playing, special dog shoes are a good idea. These should be tried out a few times in a familiar environment before the beach visit, as some dogs need a little time to get used to the paw protection.

With these tips, you and your furry friend will be perfectly equipped for a day at the beach with your dog!
